Liquor, Cannabis & Psychedelics Law Section

The Liquor, Cannabis, and Psychedelics Law Section works to connect, inform, guide, and support practitioners in these highly regulated and technical areas of law. The Section is comprised of a network of highly skilled practitioners working together to interpret the rules, regulations, and industry developments in order to further best practice guidelines for these developing and established industries.

The Section provides benefits to members by providing networking and education opportunities to attorneys who practice in or are interested in the practice of liquor, cannabis, or psychedelics law. The Section serves as a repository of information to guide practitioners through these highly technical areas of law, provides advice to the Bar, as requested, on proposed legislation, court rules, and other matters, and provides resources and education to legislators and regulators.

Our Section Is Expanding!

Thank you to those members who completed the survey sent out in October. Your responses were overwhelmingly in support of expanding the section scope. I have included at the bottom of this email the responses we received. Based on such responses, the Section Executive Committee approved amended bylaws that expanded the section scope to include liquor law and psychedelics law. On Saturday, the section proposed such amended bylaws to the Board of Governors, who approved the proposal, including our request for a new section name. The Cannabis Law Section is now the Liquor, Cannabis, and Psychedelics Law Section. The executive committee is already working on a slew of valuable programming involving these three core practice areas.

Although the members largely supported this expansion, it is clear from the minority of survey responses that some practitioners would prefer that the section remain cannabis-specific. I want to reassure you that the section remains committed to cannabis law and the needs of cannabis law practitioners. We believe this is a positive move forward for the section and we look forward to providing engaging and valuable resources to the members in all three areas of law.
