This program will review the 2020 free trade agreement reached by the U.S., Mexico and Canada to replace their earlier 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Speakers from each of the three signatory nations will present their unique views on the history and evolution of these nations’ cross-border trade relations and discuss how the USMCA is helping to reshape international supply chains, particularly as the United States is engaged in “reshoring” or “friend-shoring” the manufacturing of many vital goods. The program will also review the addition of provisions in the USMCA to address the protection of labor organizing, the protection of intellectual property, the regulation of state-owned enterprises in competition with the private sector and international dispute resolution among the three nations.
