AI and Human Rights: Legal Perspectives and Dilemmas

Recently, the UN Human High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, presented on the importance of "grounding" artificial intelligence (AI) in human rights. AI has been rapidly gaining speed and entering the lives of people around the world. However, it appears as the AI field continues to develop at a rapid pace, the law and legal profession itself appears to be behind. The program has been developed and inspired by the question of how much AI should be regulated and what are the concerns lawyers need to understand while utilizing AI. This program introduces practitioners broadly to AI and human rights and specifically examines legal ethical issues, privacy issues, how AI could respond to current human rights issues, including but not limited to hate speech. Hear different viewpoints that discuss a myriad of issues they are looking into as AI continues to develop.
