Examining People’s Movements Through the Law
Date:
April 20, 2022
Time:
This one-day CLE, hosted by the World Peace Through Law Section of the Washington State Bar, will bring together a diverse set of speakers to discuss different situations from around the world. The speakers will discuss what these gatherings intended to accomplish, how the State responded, and what the outcome has been in terms of the change society was seeking. The speakers will focus their discussions through the lens of different legal, human rights, or peace pathways that were chosen in order to accomplish their ultimate goal. This CLE will allow attorneys who are interested in areas related to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, both of which are contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to learn more about these issues in different contexts. In addition, attorneys interested in how human rights intersects with freedom of speech and assembly will be highlighted. The CLE will introduce them to the myriad of legal and human rights issues that are arising from these movements.
