CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION
July 13, 2020
Presented by the education law attorneys from Cedar Law, this is the third installment of a four-part series on the complex and far-reaching practice of education law (the other programs will be held on June 15, June 29, and July 27). In this program, join a faculty of experts as they discuss the evolving laws and issues involving school discipline in settings of K-12 education, college, and the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). Among the areas explored will be the impact of federal case law (including Goss v. Lopez, Miranda in schools, and TLO and reasonable suspicion), state laws applied to K-12 schools, police on K-12 campuses, K-12 discipline and disability as it relates to manifestation determination review under IDEA, college and university discipline (e.g., public vs. private schools), college and university Title IX hearings and appeals, and WIAA issues of eligibility, hardship, recruiting, residency, and the appeals process.
