The impact trees have on urban development and home owner rights is an often overlooked issue, but one that is becoming a more frequently regulated and disputed topic as cities and surrounding areas rapidly expand. This seminar is designed to provide an in-depth view of the legal issues that trees present, including nuisance and negligence actions related to tree root encroachments, aboveground tree encroachments, timber trespass actions, and legal determination of tree ownership and the rights associated with such ownership. The seminar will provide insight from attorneys, expert arborists and structural engineers who will discuss common development pitfalls, best practices for removal and protection of trees, and determination of structural risks related to trees.
