Emeritus Volunteers

Admission to Practice Rule (APR) 8(e) provides a limited license to practice law. Lawyers licensed with WSBA as Emeritus/Pro Bono members may offer pro bono legal assistance only through a qualified legal services provider (QLSP) organization. A list of QLSPs with direct contact information is available to WSBA members upon request. Please visit WSBA's Licensing page for additional information about the benefits and requirements of emeritus status and application information.

QLSP organizations need emeritus/pro bono lawyers to staff legal clinics, and to provide legal advice, brief services, unbundled and direct representation. Probonowa.org offers a searchable database of pro bono opportunities in Washington. Many QLSPs offer malpractice coverage, training, and support for lawyers providing pro bono service to clients referred by that organization. Please contact the QLSP with whom you are interested in volunteering for more information about specific pro bono opportunities.

If you are currently not practicing law you can change to Emeritus Pro Bono status. More information.
