Volunteer to promote professionalism

The Washington State Bar Association recently reinvented several of its professionalism initiatives. Formerly undertaken by a standing committee, the following are now volunteer opportunities that anyone can apply to participate in. To apply, log into myWSBA, then go to the application. (If you are not a WSBA member, contact our Service Center at 800-945-WSBA to create a myWSBA account.)

  • ProRes Presenter: Explain the essentials of professionalism to law students at all three law schools.
  • Conversation Starter: Lead interactive discussions of professionalism at local, specialty and minority bar associations and events.
  • PiP Crew: Promote the Professionalism in Practice program by informing colleagues about the program, reviewing nomination letters, selecting honorees, presenting awards, and writing summaries of honorees for the WSBA’s website, magazine (NWLawyer) and blog (NWSidebar).
  • Content Curator: Provide WSBA members with practical advice on professionalism issues by writing for the WSBA’s magazine (NWLawyer) and blog (NWSidebar), and recruiting colleagues to also become contributing writers.
  • Creed Reviewer: Review and revise the WSBA’s Creed of Professionalism, which will include collecting input from other WSBA members. (One-year project, expected to be completed in 2015.)

You can learn more about the WSBA's renewed dedication to professionalism in the October 2014 issue of NWLawyer. Please email any questions to barleaders@wsba.org or call Sue Strachan at 206-733-5903.
