Hearing Officer Travel Arrangement Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes Hearing Officer travel arrangements?
Hearing Officers make their own travel arrangements for WSBA hearings and trainings. This includes flight and hotel reservations.

Who pays for the Hearing Officer travel expenses?
Hearing Officers initially pay their training or hearing related travel expenses, and may request reimbursement of eligible expenses from the WSBA. To request reimbursement, complete a WSBA Expense Report and submit the completed report to Brenda Jackson in the WSBA Office of General Counsel (WSBA OGC, Attn: Brenda Jackson, 1325 Fourth Ave., Suite 600, Seattle, WA, 98101-2539) to process for reimbursement. All reimbursement requests must be signed by the Hearing Officer and include the original receipts for all travel expenses as stated in the WSBA Expense Policy on the back of the expense form.

What expenses are reimbursed?
The WSBA Expense Policy (attached to the Expense Report form) has detailed information about the expenses the WSBA will reimburse. You must follow the policy when submitting requests for reimbursement.

Where should I make my hotel reservations?
In Seattle, contact the Warwick Hotel; please request the “WSBA rate” when making your reservations.  If the hearing is being held elsewhere, contact a hotel in the area where the hearing is going to be held and reserve a room with a rate covered by the WSBA Expense Policy. Please note the maximum amount that will be reimbursed for hotels outside of the Seattle area is $150 per night. Any cost difference will be your responsibility.

Don’t want to stay at the Warwick in Seattle?
If you prefer to stay at another hotel in Seattle, the WSBA will reimburse expenses in accordance with the WSBA Expense Policy. Please note the maximum amount that will be reimbursed for hotels in the Seattle area is $180 per night. Any cost difference will be your responsibility.
