LOMAP & ETHICS
LOMAP's annual traveling seminar focuses on the issues you face in the daily operations of your solo or small-firm practice. Pete Roberts, David Powell and Cheryl Heuett bring this course to WSBA members and their staff throughout the year. Our 2008 seminar will begin touring in May! About the SpeakersPeter Roberts has 18 years of experience as a legal administrator in law firms in Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, Boston, and Seattle. Peter has his MBA from The College of William & Mary and a Certificate as Small Business Webmaster from the University of Washington. He is a frequent speaker and has consulted with over 350 WSBA members in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Since 2001, Peter is Practice Management Advisor in the Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP) of the Washington State Bar Association. Cheryl Heuett has been a WSBA Auditor since 2005. She performs random examinations and educates attorneys about the trust-account rules and regulations. She received her B.A. from Boise State University (1981) and her J.D. from the University of Idaho (1984). She was a staff accountant at the Bellevue CPA firm of Shimizu & Shimizu for five years prior to joining the auditing staff at WSBA in 2005. David Powell is the Professional Responsibility Counsel for the Washington State Bar Association. He has a B.A. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Washington University, St. Louis. David has been a lawyer for 14 years, mostly in private practice. After a 2004/2005 stint as a Disciplinary Counsel at the Washington State Bar Association, David began sharing duties with Professional Responsibility Counsel Christopher Sutton in 2007. Upon Mr. Sutton's February 1, 2008 retirement, David began acting as Professional Responsibility Counsel on an interim basis. David accepted the full-time position in June, 2008. He is licensed in both Washington and Oregon.
