Lawyer-to-Lawyer ProgramWe encourage all WSBA members to consider this program! The Lawyer-to-Lawyer Program fosters professionalism among members of the WSBA by:
The WSBA Lawyer-to-Lawyer Program has a critical need for mentors! We currently need mentors in the Seattle/King County area in several practice areas. How Much Time is Involved? As of February 2003, protégé applications to the Program are put on a waiting list. We anticipate the wait time to be 9 - 12 months. We will accept the application and work on your match in the order we received your application. Please consider joining a WSBA Section or Committee of interest to you and/or contacting your local bar associations to learn of ways to become more involved with other attorneys, again through the sections or committee work or through volunteer opportunities. This relationship offers new lawyers an opportunity to heighten the degree of civility, professionalism and competence with which they represent their clients by creating an avenue for newly admitted attorneys to learn from more experienced members of the Washington State Bar. Specific activities of the Lawyer-to-Lawyer match will vary with the needs and interests of the lawyers participating in the program. The program is not designed to foster legal advice between the parties. For more insight into how you can work with a mentor, please read "How Mentors Can Help You," by Terese Droste and "Ten Rules for Mentoring Relationships" by Jan Hyun. If you wish to participate in this program, please complete the Lawyer to Lawyer Participant Information Form and for additional information, please contact Julie Salmon at juliesa@wsba.org or 206-733-5914 or Peter Roberts at peter@wsba.org or 206-727-8237. |
