Accounting Manager

Administration Department
Hourly/No Benefits: $25-30/hour DOE

This temporary 3-month position is a reduction in duties of the regular Audit, Accounting & Production Manager position. The temporary manager will be responsible only for accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, order processing, inventory, order fulfillment, and CLE registrations; ensure that the supply process is timely and accurate; oversee daily work and workflow of accounting staff; and back up accounting staff and assist with hands-on posting, bank transactions, and collections, as needed. Will supervise the seasonal Licensing Work Group by managing the workflow of dues processing to ensure timely, accurate processing, and developing and maintaining statistical data re same. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field, and 2-5 years' experience managing the accounting functions of a mid-sized company, including all aspects of A/R, A/P, inventory, and financial statements. Candidates should have a broad understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping issues, and should possess a high level of the following demonstrated skills: leadership, supervision, verbal and written communications, judgment, problem solving, and decision making. Candidates should be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and the use of sophisticated accounting software.

Communications Specialist/Web Site Editor

The Communications Specialist/Web Site Editor plans and implements a variety of communications tasks and programs.  Approximately half time is devoted to work in the WSBA web site.  The remainder of time is spent on other communications activities (writing news releases, media relations, public relations activities, etc.) and the WSBA monthly magazine, Bar News.  This position deals primarily with the WSBA's communications to members and the public; serves as editor of the WSBA web site; copyedits and proofreads Bar News text; assists in handling inquiries from the media; maintains editorial style guides; proofreads and edits miscellaneous other WSBA publications; works with outside desktop publishers and printing companies to coordinate and produce annual WSBA directory.  Qualified candidates will have a four-year college degree in communications, journalism or English, or demonstrated equivalent competence and work experience, plus training in web site development; must have a minimum of three years of broad-based experience in a variety of corporate-communications areas, plus significant expertise in business writing, copyediting and proofreading; must be technologically savvy and keenly interested in the practical application of existing and emerging technologies; must be versatile, able to handle and appropriately prioritize a variety of projects.  Customer service orientation and commitment to quality are extremely important.  Must also possess excellent communication skills; the ability to balance multiple tasks with minimal supervision; planning and organizational skills; diplomacy in dealing with others; exceptional attention to detail.   Occasional travel within Washington state.

Seminar Development Specialist

Continuing Legal Education Department

The Seminar Development Specialist will establish, schedule, recruit, and support the delivery of WSBA CLE seminars, and will manage all required logistics and faculty support for conducting quality seminar programs. The Seminar Development Specialist will identify programs and recruit "Seminar Chairs" (attorneys to serve as the principal recruiters of seminar faculty). The Specialist will manage all seminar logistics, including advertising (creation of brochures), communication with seminar faculty on all seminar related needs, and working with CLE staff in producing/staffing the programs. Qualified candidates require a Bachelor's degree; a Masters or law degree is preferred. Experience required includes a working knowledge of CLE programs, event planning and staging, educational programs, and working with volunteers. Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills; also, intermediate MS Office proficiency with some laptop and LCD experience.
