WSBA Bar Leaders Division

The Bar Leaders Division serves as the WSBA's liaison to its 26 sections; 27 committees, boards, and panels; the Washington Young Lawyers Division; and local, specialty, and minority bars. The division works closely with WSBA volunteers to build and strengthen relationships with members and affiliate groups.

Sections

WSBA sections provide a forum for members to pursue their interests in various areas of the law. Among other things, sections support the continuing legal education of lawyers, cooperate in the development of the WSBA's legislative program, organize and inform section members of issues and events in their areas of interest, and foster collegiality among members.

Contributions, Grants & Scholarships in 2006-2007

In fiscal year 2007, 16 of the 26 sections of the Washington State Bar Association made fiscal designations in the form of scholarships, donations or grants totaling $124,760.

Sections making financial contributions to a variety of events, nonprofit community-based organizations, law student scholarships and special projects included: Administrative Law, Animal Law, Business Law, Creditor-Debtor, Dispute Resolution, Elder Law, Environmental and Land Use Law (ELUL), Family Law, Indian Law, Intellectual Property, International Practice, Labor and Employment Law, Litigation, Real Property, Probate and Trust (RPPT), Tax Law and World Peace Through Law (WPTL).

Committees, Boards, and Panels

The WSBA offers members many opportunities to serve on one of its many committees, panels, and boards. Each spring, all active members are sent a "WSBA Application for Committee, Board, and Volunteer Panel Appointments." Appointments are made by the Board of Governors in late summer, and those appointed begin their term of service in October.
