WSBA Young Lawyer Liaisons to Sections

The WSBA Young Lawyer Liaison to Sections Program creates an opportunity for a WSBA sections and new or young lawyers to focus on strengthening the connection between a specific section and the new and young lawyer community. In collaboration with the section, liaisons bring their perspective and connections to building educational programming, events, and other section activities tailored to new and young lawyer members.

WSBA liaison positions to the sections listed below are currently open for applications. Each section provides an individualized volunteer position description that explains each positions' roles and responsibilities:

Apply by filling out this online form. Liaisons will be selected by late August and a WSBA staff member will contact applicants by Sept. 1, 2017, to inform them of their status.

Requirements 

  • Liaisons must meet the WSBA young lawyer criteria on the start date of their term. Active members of the Bar shall be considered “young lawyers” until whichever occurs later:
    • the last day of December of the year when the member attains the age of 36, years, or
    • until the last day of December of the fifth year after the year the member was first admitted to practice in any state. 
  • Liaisons are expected to attend a liaison orientation 8–10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the WSBA offices in Seattle (in-person attendance strongly encouraged). 
  • Liaisons must be members of the section they liaise to while serving as liaison.
