Advisory Opinion Guidelines
Advisory opinions are written Board opinions about the authority of nonlawyers to perform legal and law-related services. Request advisory opinions by sending a written request to the Board Administrator by mail, fax or email. The board may decline to issue requested opinions. The board will not issue an advisory opinion if the issue is currently involved in litigation or the subject of a complaint investigation. If the board issues an opinion, it may invite public comment or hold public hearings.
