A Look at Police and People of Color CLE

This seminar focuses on police use of excessive force and the complaints that are shielded from accountability until communities of color rise up, often at a tipping point after years of unchecked police power. The seminar examines the recent history of these issues nationwide and in Washington state, communities that have pressed complaints, federal and local government response to excessive force complaints, and the practitioners who represent the victims of excessive policing. Presenters include lawyers who have pursued such cases, community representatives and advocates who brought complaints, and people who previously or currently represent the federal and local jurisdictions.
